Real Estate & Title
One email, one changed account number, and a buyer’s entire down payment is gone.
Wire fraud defence, transaction files full of personal information kept properly, agents working from cars without leaking client data, and the verification process that stops the attack this industry is defined by.
If your wire instructions go out by email and get confirmed by email, that is the single most urgent thing on this page.

The Attack
Business email compromise was built for real estate closings.
A closing is a large, scheduled payment between parties who mostly communicate by email and often have never met. An attacker who reads a mailbox for a few weeks knows the date, the amount, the parties and the tone — and sends instructions that look exactly right, at exactly the right moment.
The money moves immediately and is gone almost as quickly. Recovery depends on catching it within hours, and the buyer usually finds out days later at the closing table. There is rarely anyone to sue who has the money.
The defence is layered and none of it is exotic: multi-factor authentication so mailboxes are not readable in the first place, filtering tuned for impersonation of your own domain and your partners’, and a hard rule that wire details are verified by voice to a number obtained independently of any email.
Verify by voice. Every time. No exceptions for a busy Friday.
Say it before you need it
Tell every buyer at the start, in writing, that your wire instructions never change and that any email saying otherwise is fraudulent. Most losses happen because nobody said it early.
What We Handle
For brokerages, title agencies and escrow
Wire fraud defence
Multi-factor authentication, impersonation filtering on your domain and your partners, and warning banners on anything arriving from outside.
Mailbox compromise detection
Alerts on the forwarding rules and unusual logins that show an attacker is reading a mailbox before they ever send anything.
Transaction file security
Every file holds names with Social Security numbers and account details. Encrypted at rest, access controlled, and retained to a schedule rather than forever.
Secure client document exchange
A portal for the documents that currently travel as email attachments, which is also the fastest way to reduce what is sitting in mailboxes.
Agents working anywhere
Laptops and phones secured for people who work from cars, closings and open houses, with remote wipe when one goes missing.
Breach readiness
ORC 1349.19 gives you 45 days from discovery. We make sure you could actually tell who was affected and when.
The Ohio breach law detail is covered in full on the secure email and compliance page.
Protect the closing and you protect the client, the deal and the licence.
Questions
Questions from brokerages and title offices
How do wire fraud attacks actually start?
Almost always with a compromised mailbox — an agent, a title clerk, a lender or the buyer. The attacker reads quietly for weeks, then sends one perfectly timed message. Multi-factor authentication on every mailbox is the single highest-value control.
Is a warning in the email footer enough?
No. If the mailbox is compromised, the attacker removes or reproduces the footer. Verification by voice to an independently obtained number is what works.
Do title files really fall under Ohio breach law?
Yes, squarely. A name with a Social Security number, or a name with a financial account and its credentials, is the statutory definition of personal information. A transaction file usually contains both.
Our agents are independent contractors. Does that change anything?
It complicates device control but not the obligation. We usually address it with access controls and a secure portal rather than trying to manage personal laptops.

Who has multi-factor authentication, how wire details get confirmed, and what would happen if a mailbox were being read right now. It is a short conversation with a very large downside behind it.
The wire only has to go wrong once.
