Engineering & Architecture

A plan set is a legal document. Version control is not a nice-to-have.

Large-file storage that does not fall over, CAD and BIM workstations specified for the work rather than the budget, genuine version control on drawings, and bids that stay confidential until they open.

If two people can open the same drawing and save over each other, that is the first thing to fix.

Built for big files

CAD, BIM, point clouds.

Real version control

One current set, always.

Bids stay closed

Until the day they open.

Sealed work protected

Your stamp, your liability.

The Real Problem

Your files are enormous, your liability is long, and both outlast the project.

Design practices generate files that break ordinary office IT: CAD assemblies, BIM models, point clouds and rendered output, all of which need to be opened quickly by several people and kept for years after the building is finished.

The professional exposure lasts just as long. A stamped drawing is a legal instrument, and if a question arises years later you need to establish which revision was issued, when, and to whom. That is a version control and retention problem long before it is a legal one.

Then there are bids. Pricing and proposal documents are commercially sensitive right up until the moment they are opened, and the ordinary way they leak is not an attacker — it is a shared folder with permissions nobody has reviewed since the last project.

Store it properly, version it honestly, and keep it as long as your liability runs.

The question to ask your team

"If someone asked which revision we issued on a given date, how long would it take to prove it?" The answer tells you exactly how much version control you really have.

What We Handle

Specified for how design work actually behaves

Large-file storage and performance

Network and storage designed for CAD and BIM, so opening a model is not the slowest part of somebody’s morning.

Workstation specification

Machines specified against the software you actually run, rather than whatever the vendor is discounting this quarter.

Version control and issue records

One current set, a clear history, and a defensible record of what was issued when — which matters most years after handover.

Bid and proposal confidentiality

Access scoped by project and reviewed, so commercially sensitive pricing does not sit in a folder half the office can open.

Long-term archiving

Project records kept for the length of your professional liability, retrievable, and not dependent on a drive in a cupboard.

Collaboration with consultants

Sharing models and drawings with structural, MEP and civil partners without losing track of who holds which revision.

Working on public projects? See municipalities for what your client has to comply with.

Your drawings outlive the project. Store them like it.

Questions

Questions from engineers and architects

Our CAD files open slowly over the network. Is that fixable?

Usually, and rarely by buying faster computers. It is generally the storage, the network path or how the files are structured — which a short assessment identifies.

How long should we keep project records?

At least as long as your professional liability exposure, which is typically longer than people assume. We design retention around that rather than around disk cost.

Can we work on models with outside consultants safely?

Yes, with scoped project access and a clear record of revisions. The risk is not usually collaboration itself; it is permissions nobody revisits after a job ends.

Do we fall under Ohio breach law?

If you hold personnel records or client personal information, yes — ORC 1349.19 has no profession test. Your drawings are not personal information, but your HR files are.
